Sorel Joins Minnesota Trucking Association as Chief Operating Officer

Minnesota Trucking Association is pleased to announce Mr. Tom Sorel has been hired as our new Chief Operating Officer, effective November 14 2016.
In this capacity, Sorel will assist the President and Chief Executive Officer in the execution of the organization’s mission and strategic objectives. He will have primary responsibilities for overseeing the MTA’s support staff, retaining and recruiting members, overseeing communications and events, and managing the Political Action Committee.
“We are very excited to have Tom join our team,” said MTA President and CEO John Hausladen. “We believe Tom’s unique skillset and transportation experience will enhance our ability to successfully serve our members and grow our organization.”
Sorel has served in various capacities with the United States Department of Transportation, including Olympics Liaison, Mega Projects Team Leader and Federal Highway Administration Minnesota Division Director.
Most notably, he served as Minnesota’s Commissioner of Transportation under Governors Pawlenty and Dayton.
Upon leaving government service, Sorel served as President and CEO of AAA Minneapolis, and worked for KLJ Engineering and Serco Americas. He most recently was a principal at Sorel and Associates. He holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Civil Engineering from the State University of New York, and a Masters in Business Administration from Thomas College.
