ROSEVILLE, MINN –(June 9, 2014) – Jim Kroschel, driver for US Foods in Plymouth, was named 2014 champion at the  Minnesota Truck Driving Championships held June 7-8 on the grounds of Con-way Freight in Fridley.

“Jim has been driving for 33 years, covering 3 million career miles,” said MTA President/CEO John Hausladen.  “He’s been our state champion eight times in the 26 years he’s been competing.”

Presented by the Minnesota Trucking Association (MTA) Safety Council, the annual competition tests drivers’ skills navigating a tough obstacle course, along with completing a written test and a pre-trip inspection where they identify safety defects planted on a tractor-trailer.

Semi truck drivers from across the state competed for the honor of representing Minnesota at the National Truck Driving Championships in Pittsburgh, August 12-16, 2014.

Kroschel, a Maplewood resident, has been employed by US Foods for 22 years.
