Minnesota’s Safest Truck Driver to be Announced!
Minnesota’s Truck Driver of the Year to be Announced Monday Night
WHAT:
Minnesota Driver of the Year Awards Banquet
Join us for an exciting award ceremony that will showcase 12 drivers and their impressive attention to safety. A video presentation will document the story of each driver. The Driver of the Year will be announced in a grand fashion to those in attendance. The winner receives a trophy and a $500 cash award to honor this prestigious title.
WHO:
The Minnesota Trucking Association (MTA) will be honoring the drivers selected as 2009 Drivers of the Month and will award one of them the distinguished title of Minnesota Driver of the Year. The driver selected as Minnesota Driver of the Year will go on to compete for the national title.

WHY:
The distinguished drivers nominated for this award represents the best and the safest drivers in the trucking industry. Together, the twelve honorees represent 275 years of driving experience and over 26.3 million safe driving miles.
The drivers were chosen on the basis of outstanding driving records, work records, contributions to community and industry/highway safety. The Driver of the Year was selected by judges Dan Drexler, Division Administrator, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration; Captain Ken Urquhart, Minnesota State Patrol; and Ward Briggs, Director of Mn/DOT’s Office of Motor Carrier Services.
Interviews with the winner can be arranged for the morning of January 12 by calling Ed Smelser at (651) 646-7351 or by e-mailing ed@mntruck.org.
The MTA is a non-profit trade association representing the interests of the state’s motor carrier industry since 1932. With almost 700 member companies, the MTA is a powerful voice for the industry, its mission is to provide advocacy, information and services to ensure safe transportation and a successful Minnesota trucking industry.
