Major Twin Cities Traffic Slowdowns Expected This Weekend

This weekend will be another big weekend of Twin Cities Metro roadway construction and closures. As you begin planning your weekend activities we want to alert you to someconstruction zones and road closures that may cause delays:

  • Highway 3 - closed between 70th Street and Allen Way in Inver Grove Heights beginning at 10 p.m., Friday, Aug. 23 and lasting through 5 a.m., Monday, Aug. 26.
  • Highway 10 - single lane between West Main Street/Greenhaven Road and Seventh Avenue until Friday, Aug. 30.
  • Interstate 35 southbound - single lane between theI-35/I-35W/I-35E split and County Road 50 from 7 p.m., Friday, Aug. 23 to 1 p.m., Monday,Aug. 26.
  • Interstate 35W - the ramp from westbound Ramsey County Rd. 10 to southbound I-35W and the ramp from northbound I-35W to westbound Ramsey County Rd. 10 will close late Friday, Aug. 23. Both ramps are expected to re-open by 5 a.m., Monday, Aug. 26. The ramp from southbound I-35W to north/east Hwy 13 is closed until further notice.
  • Highway 36 - closed both directions between Hwy 61 and White Bear Avenue until Saturday, Aug. 31. Hwy 36 between Hwy 61 and Edgerton Street is reduced to a single lane through Sept. 28.
  • Highway 52 Lafayette Bridge - Vehicle length restrictions remain in effect; vehicles longer than 35 feet are notallowed.
  • Highway 65 - closed both directions of Hwy 65 between Osborne Road Northeast and 81st Avenue Northeast in Sprink Lake Park beginning at 10 p.m., Friday, Aug. 23until 5 a.m., Monday, Aug. 26.
  • Highway 95 - closed both directions between County Road 12 andCounty Road16 until Tuesday, Aug. 27.
  • Highway 169 - the ramp from Hwy 101/13 to northbound Hwy 169 will close at 10 p.m., Friday, Aug. 23 and is expected to re-open by 5 a.m., Monday, Aug. 26.
  • Interstate 494 - closed westbound between I-35W and Hwy 100beginning at 10 p.m., Friday, Aug. 23until 5 a.m., Monday,Aug. 26.
  • Interstate 694 - single lane eastbound between Hwy 100 in Brooklyn Center and Long Lake Road in New Brighton between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. westbound single lane from Hwy 65 to Hwy 100 between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m.Numerous other closures associated with the project canbe found on the project website, including the closure of theramp from eastbound I-694 to southbound I-35W.

Please exercise patience, pay attention in work zones and follow the posted speed limits to keepthe roads safe.

Remember to Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over- extra DWI patrols will be on the roads until Sept. 12.
